Week 4 already!  Where does the time go?

The sketches are looking fabulous.  I can’t wait to animate them with your voice overs.  I have had difficulty getting Crazy Talk to export media files.  However, I am meeting the IT technician on Wednesday, so hopefully it will get sorted then.   This is a learning curve for me too!

The Week Ahead

Testing: We still have Listening Comprehension, Reading Vocabulary and STAR to finish this week.  I am still waiting for STAR to be delivered.  Hopefully we will have all the testing out of the way this week and can really get our teeth into our topic.
Maths:  Measurement for this week.  Continuing with linear measurement, perimeter and area.    Next week change to numeracy - addition and subtraction.
Writing:  Surface features - basic punctuation and writing book reviews.
Reading:  Reading for information.  Identifying key points.
Art:  Finish sketches and start crayon batik masks
Big Idea: Wellness - This is what you told me that you want to find out -
‘How do our bodies work?  How does diet and exercise impact on how our bodies work?’
We will focus on our circulation, breathing and healthy, fit bodies muscles.
PE/Fitness: Swimming and daily fitness.
Music:  No music lesson this week as Mary is at a course

For those of you who asked about the bones in the body - take a look at this video - very cool!

I have made a slide show with the photos we are using for our sketches.  ANIMOTO is easy to use and you can make a short slide show for free!  I am a subscriber so this one is full length. Once we have finished our sketches we will animate them using Crazy Talk.  I am having a few problems exporting files from Crazy Talk at the moment, but hopefully I will be able to get it fixed soon!

For all of you that just love this story - a youtube version.  We could video our own readers’ theatre version and download it on to our blog.  What do you think?

Homework Week 3 Term 1

1.    Read every night for at least 20 minutes.  Fill in your reading log.

2.  Learn your basic facts

3.  Write a letter to Lesley.

The letter should include information about yourself that, you think, I would like to know about!  It could include information about your interests, strengths and family.  It should include information about your expectations for year six.  This is your chance to tell me all about yourself!

Make sure you use correct punctuation and spelling and write at least three paragraphs!  Don’t forget to set out your letter in the correct format. Write your final copy in your homework book.

4.  Check out our classroom blog.  This is a work in progress, so keep watching the space!  Show Mum and Dad and point out the ‘Pages’ section.
